SGEG is a graduate-student organization with a goal of promoting gender equity in the geophysical sciences through outreach, community building, institutional reform, and career development.
SGEG aims to foster community and collaboration between women in the geosciences and other groups in science to make members of this organization feel supported and uplifted through positive peer mentorship and friendship. It also seeks to help make UCLA a more inclusive space for women and promotes women at an institutional level. This includes drawing awareness to some of the challenges women face at UCLA and frequent communication with the administration and faculty to help address those concerns.
